We observed the pumpkin with 4 senses (no tasting this time!) and made a few predictions about our pumpkin (ex-sink/float, how many seeds, etc.) Almost everyone thought that our pumpkin would sink because it was a bit heavy. One student made another prediction. He thought the pumpkin would float because it did not have holes in it. Guess what?!?! He was right! He proved to us that it can be important to have your own ideas and thoughts. We opened up the pumpkin and took turns scooping out the seeds. There were SO many of them! We didn't even have enough time in the day to count them all.
Today, we plan to count out the seeds and finish up our data recording sheets. We are hoping to use these for a fun fall display in the hallway next week!
